The New Mexico Section of the Southwest Police & Fire Expo provides a variety of classes and training for all specialties. Each class is available on a first-come/first-served basis. Most classes are repeated at least twice during the tradeshow. If a class is full, the registration system will not allow you to register and you will be offered an alternative class. Class #1 - Your Rights as a Public Safety Officer
What are your rights as a public safety officer? What guarantees are in place to assist you in the case of a dispute with an arrestee or inmate?? This class will provide you with the resources you need!
Class #2 - Your Rights as a Firefighter/EMS Professional
What are your rights as a firefighter or EMS Professional? What guarantees are in place to assist you in the case of an accident involving your truck and a private vehicle? What rights to you have as a paramedic assisting the injured or ill? This class will provide you with the resources you need!
Class #3 - Working with the K-9 Unit
This class details your duties and responsibilities when working with a K-9 unit and is geared toward the general public safety officer. This course provides information on how to deal effectively with both the K-9 officer and the animal and provides valuable insight into how to make yourself an effective part of the K-9 team.
Class #4 - Resources! Resources!
The internet has become a valuable tool in our everyday life. This course provides you with hundreds of valuable resources for use to public safety, fire and EMS professionals. Everything from "best practices" for all types of situations and emergencies to information about union contacts, financial planning, insurance and other useful internet resources as well as valuable information on conducting internet searches and narrowing criteria to find just the information you need.
Class #5 - Concealment Techniques for Plain Clothes Officer
How do you, as a plain clothes officer conceal and protect your weapon? How do you hide the fact that you are a plain clothes detective? This class provides you with effective and unique techniques to protect yourself and your weapon along with martial arts manuevers designed to keep you safe.
Class #6 - Emergency Communication with the Deaf
Provided by Maryland Interpreting Service, this CEU accredited class provides instruction for public safety, fire and EMS professionals on communicating with the deaf.
